Week 11

I have downloaded Firefox and I have installed some add-ons google scholar, google news and weather canada.

I installed all the bookmarklets from the MORRIS bookmarklet page and tested them. I tried them out in Amazon.ca highlighted author or title then searched in Morris for the same author or title using the bookmarklets I saved in my favorites.

I find the bookmarklets from MORRIS useful and I like the weather Canada add-on.

Week 10

I have played Bejewelled 2, Zuma, Bookworm, Alchemy, Typo Shark, Diner Dash and Bonnies Bookstore. I have decided not to record my scores, as I never realized how competetive I am, once I started playing I couldn’t stop trying to get a better score.
My eyes are sore, my hands ache and I am exhausted. I certainly didn’t find it relaxing. I feel like that guy in the commercial who wouldn’t leave his computer or go out with his friends because he is addicted to online gambling.

As for gaming and virtual worlds being of interest to libraries I can’t think of much other than a virtual library where information and materials can be obtained online from anywhere.

Gaming could be used somehow in tutorials this might make them more interesting.

Week 9

Well I’ve signed up for an account on Facebook and have been told I have 0 friends.

Name     Patricia Collins

Network McMaster

I’ve joined the Learning 2.0 @Mac group and now have 26 friends.

I’ve looked around different groups and can’t find any that interests me, there is a big age gap.

Last week when I registered on zohoplanner.com, I added an appointment and was  Tornado reminded of it today, which was sort of neat.

There is  a funny article Facebook for Fiftysomethings by Emily Yoffe.

I’ve now signed up on Myspace I think you have to find me by my e-mail address collinp@mcmaster.ca or go through 1100 Patricia Collins. Didn’t find much interesting  Wizard other than the smiley’s. Night

I registered on LinkedIn. Couldn’t find anyone I know. There are 10 other Patricia Collin’s, it seems to be more of sight for job hunters.

Week 8

Have looked at a few applications signed up for Zoho  and set up a calendar http://planner.zoho.com/login.do and a to do list. AlsoI have signed up to LibraryThing. Played a little with snipshots. I liked Basecamp. I couldn’t get on to LastFM, will try later.

I now have an avatar from http://www.redkid.net/ not sure where I am supposed to put it.

Week 5

FINISHED.

Finally!!!

;)

I have managed to set up an account, you have to go to del.icio.us home page and register. They then confirm by e-mail and I have added the buttons to my browser tool bar. I have also added websites (2) and tags to each link.

Apparently I was supposed to save the URL not the picture. Tried again and ended up with another picture

I’ll come back to activity 3 later.

I figured out how to get the URLS and decided to leave the pictures

Week 5 – Activity 1

Hi,

The main difference I found between del.iciou.us and Google is there are many more entries in google example knitting brought up no results but under related tags 314,000 entries. In del.iciou.us. The same subject heading in Google brought up 23,8000,000 entries. I found the tags in del.iciou.us a little more helpful.

Wikis

Hi

I’ve just finished using the Digital Reference Shelf. I preferred myfavouritebooks, it looked nicer and was easier to navigate.
